This was a very touching story of a French girl born at the beginning of the second world war and how the Nazi treated the French children in their schools.
This young lady grew up and married a young gentleman that was in the Airforce that was stationed in Germany and came to the USA and changed alot of lives.
The young gentleman by the way was from Rockland, Maine and now resides in Charleston, SC.
They raised two beautiful daughters and have some very nice grand childrens.
I love reading this book because it brings me so much closer to my aunt. Yes this wonderful person is my aunt. I am so proud of her for writing this and getting this published. I love her so much, and she answered all of my questions about the rest of my family that no one else could. Plus it gave me more background on my family.

Francoise is truly a beautiful spirit. If you ever have the blessing of meeting her face-to-face, you will Know you are seeing one of God's true Lights.
Her story is absolutely amazing and inspiring. While the book is a quick read with fun, laughter, sadness, strength and fear, there is such a Strong Message between the lines, as they say. I just finished reading this and already want to read it again - but will wait a week and then re-read it, to absorb more of her spiritual messages.
We are all given gifts from God; what we Do with them are our gifts back to God. Francoise has truly done and still does great things with her Precious God-given gifts. Many Blessings to her and to you all who choose to read her story! And to those who don't, Many Blessings to you, as well!
This book actually found me! and at the perfect time in my life. I read it in one sitting because I could not put it down, it touched me in so many ways I cannot even begin to explain. Francoise and her family are heroes in my opinion to have survived such an ordeal, but Francoise herself has such a special gift, I know this because she was kind enough to talk to me after I read it and we shared some stories, she is such a wonderful person. Everyone should take time to read this book, there is truly something for everyone within the pages and I am grateful to have had the chance to read it. Much love to Francoise and her family )
I became close to Francoise quite by accident, but by the will of my Lord. Through a series of conversations, I became Francoise' proofreader for this book. It was a wonderful and very enlightening process to walk with her. I am so proud to see how much everyone loves her memoir. One memory of her that is forever burnt into my mind is one that demonstrates her strength She and I were walking through the store that I worked in one day and we rounded the corner into an aisle where paint was carried. Someone decided they would test the spray paint by using it to paint a swastika on one of the display crates. Francoise stopped, gasped slightly, touched my arm and said "Candee, please cover that up". The emotion flooded her face, but she did not release it except to say "Stupid children do not know what they are doing when they do that". My heart ached for her knowing what she had seen and been through. She and I became somewhat close and I hold her very dear in my heart. Francoise, I love you and hope you are doing well. I HAVE MET THIS WHIRLWIND OF A DARLING WOMAN HERE IN CHARLESTON AND I MUST SAY SHE IS FASCINATING TO TALK TO. AT THE TIME I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT SHE MEANT BY SOME OF THE THINGS SHE SAID BUT AFTER READING HER BOOK IT SOON BECAME CLEAR. IT WAS AN INTERESTING READ AND I WAS IMPRESSED BY HOW STRONG THIS FAMILY MUST HAVE BEEN TO HAVE SURVIVED THE ATROCITIES OF WAR. ESPECIALLY HER RESOURCEFUL MOTHER WHO MANAGED TO PROTECT ALL OF HER CHILDREN WHEN NAZI SOLDIERS CAME INTO THEIR HOME. HOW THEY MANAGED TO SURVIVE THE HARSH WINTERS WITH VERY LITTLE FOOD,WOOD FOR A FIRE OR BLANKETS FOR WARMTH AND WITHOUT HER HUSBAND IS A LESSON IN COURAGE.FRANCOISE WAS JUST A SMALL GIRL THEN,BUT I KNOW THEIR STRUGGLES TAUGHT HER RESOURCEFULNESS AND BLESSED HER WITH A SPECIAL APPRECIATION FOR LIFE. SHE SAW VISIONS AS A CHILD AND LATER,AFTER SHE MARRIED AND MOVED TO THE UNITED STATES WITH HER MILITARY HUSBAND, WAS ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THOSE VISIONS IN HER NEW LIFE.
